Which roads does National Highways cover near Horndean?

The A3 and A3(M) are looked after by National Highways, which publishes both its planned closures and its live incidents online. Its closure report refers to the motorway section as "A3M" with junction numbers such as "Jct 3" and "Jct 4". Follow the road signs, and use the junction names on National Highways' own closure lists when you plan around them.

Queen Elizabeth Country Park is a useful landmark. Forestry England's page says the park "can be accessed from the A3 between Petersfield and Cowplain in either direction". National Highways' closure report uses the abbreviation "QEPC" for the same area, and describes works "A3 northbound Chalton to QEPC".

What closures has National Highways published for 2 to 8 October 2026?

This section is the list for that one week only and will date quickly, so check the live report for anything later. National Highways' daily closure report, last updated on 2 October 2026 at 15:30, lists planned closures for the seven days from Friday 2 to Thursday 8 October, generally from 9pm to 6am. The ones that touch our area are on the nights of 6 and 8 October.

On Tuesday 6 October, the report lists slip road and lane closures for drainage work on the A3 northbound between Chalton and QEPC, covering the Chalton exit and entry slip roads and the QEPC exit and entry slip roads. On the same night it lists an A3M southbound Jct 3 entry slip road closure for maintenance. On Thursday 8 October there is an A3M southbound Jct 4 entry slip road and hard shoulder closure for maintenance.

The report only looks seven days ahead. For later dates, and for closures on other roads, check the closure report and Hampshire County Council's website before you travel at night or at weekends.
