Butser Ancient Farm lists half-term club and Halloween events
Butser Ancient Farm's events calendar shows a holiday club, Roman reenactment weekends, storytelling evenings and craft workshops across October 2026.
Butser Ancient Farm, on Chalton Lane near Horndean (PO8 0BG), has listed a programme of October events on its online events calendar, which was showing dates through to the end of the month on 5 October 2026.
Half-term and family events
The farm lists a Time Traveller Holiday Club from Monday 26 to Friday 30 October 2026, running from 09:00 to 17:00. It describes the club as a holiday activity club designed for 6 to 13-year-olds, based around hands-on historical activities in the Hampshire landscape.
The farm's Roman Reenactment Weekend is listed twice in the month, on Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 October from 10:00 to 16:00, and again on Saturday 31 October and Sunday 1 November. The farm says visitors can discover Roman living history and combat reenactments with the Butser IX Roman Legion and find out what life would have been like in Roman Britain.
Storytelling and workshops
For an evening out, storyteller Jason Buck is listed for Dark Fairy Tales for the Season of Mists in Butser's Great Roundhouse on Friday 16 and Saturday 17 October, 19:00 to 21:00. The farm says the evenings explore the mystery of Samhain with spooky Halloween tales.
The calendar also lists craft and skills workshops, including a Viking Weave Jewellery Workshop and a copper decorations workshop on Saturday 17 October, Ancient Wire Work on Sunday 18 October, a Corn Dolly Workshop on Sunday 25 October, a Bow Making Course from Tuesday 27 to Friday 30 October and The Folklore of Plants on Saturday 31 October. Bronze casting workshops run through the month.
Prices, age rules and availability are set on each event's own page, and the calendar does not show them in the listing.
