Butser Ancient Farm lists winter workshops and Yule storytelling
The farm's calendar shows wreath and tree ornament workshops, a harp concert and a Yule storytelling evening between November and December 2026.
Butser Ancient Farm, on Chalton Lane near Horndean (PO8 0BG), has put its November and December 2026 events on its online calendar, including several with a festive theme. The calendar was showing the dates on 5 October 2026.
Festive crafts
A Hedgerow Wreath Making Workshop is listed for Saturday 28 November and Saturday 5 December 2026, both from 10:00 to 12:00 in the Saxon meadhall. The farm describes it as a calming escape from the bustle of modern Christmas.
A Tree Ornament Workshop, in which participants plait straw to create corn dolly ornaments for Yule or Christmas, is listed for 10:00 to 13:00 on Saturday 5, Tuesday 8 and Saturday 12 December. The farm says it is beginner friendly.
Evenings and cookery
On Thursday 3 December from 19:00 to 21:00, concert harpist Keziah Thomas performs Harp Songs for a Winter's Night in Butser's Great Roundhouse. On Friday 18 December, also 19:00 to 21:00, storyteller Jason Buck presents The Horns of Yule, a winter tale told around the hearth of the Iron Age Roundhouse.
The calendar also lists a Deer Butchery and Saxon Cookery Workshop on Saturday 12 December and a Saxon Cookery Workshop on Sunday 13 December, both from 10:00 to 15:45. The farm says the cookery workshop includes veggie and vegan-friendly options. Earlier, on Saturday 14 November from 11:00 to 20:00, it lists The Butser Gathering, described as a place where people share their interest in history and step into the world of the past.
Bronze casting workshops are also listed for November and December. Prices and booking terms are on each event's own page rather than the calendar list.
